Julie Bobitt, PhD

Program Coordinator and Instructor, Interdisciplinary Health Sciences, University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign

Julie Bobitt is Program Coordinator and Instructor for the Interdisciplinary Health Sciences Program at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. Dr. Bobitt earned her undergraduate degree in Community and Therapeutic Recreation and a master’s degree in Recreation Administration from the University of Iowa. She earned her doctorate degree in Community Health from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign.

Julie has over 15 years of experience working to advance programs and policies on behalf of older adults. At the University of Iowa Center on Aging, she initiated a lifelong learning program, contributed to the development of a statewide coalition to advance the provision of specialty services to older adults with mental health needs, and assisted with the design and implementation of a nationally funded collaborative model of care for older persons with mental health needs.

Dr. Bobitt’s primary research interest concerns the dissemination and implementation of evidence-based wellness policies and initiatives to older adults. Julie’s work has been recognized nationally with the Doctoral Research Award honorable mention from the American Public Health Association, Aging and Public Health Interest Group, and her work has been published in Qualitative Health Research and Journal of Aging Research.
