Julia Driessen, PhD, is an economist at the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), leading evaluations of models related to Medicare Advantage and end-of-life care. Julia was previously an assistant professor at the Graduate School of Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh, and she continues to teach in the Katz Business School's Executive MBA in Healthcare program.

Julia completed her undergraduate education at the University of Michigan, studying mathematics and economics, and then earned her PhD in economics at Johns Hopkins University. As a 2016-2017 Health and Aging Policy Fellow, she had placements with CMS's Federal Coordinated Health Care Office as well as the office of U.S. Senator Brian Schatz . Post-fellowship, Julia spent a year as a senior advisor at HHS's Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation, primarily supporting model review for the Physician-Focused Payment Model Technical Advisory Committee.
