2019-2020 Fellows panel discussion on the Biden Healthcare Policy Agenda

On June 3, 2021, Angela Mattie (2019-2020 Fellow) moderated a Quinnipiac University webinar, featuring Thomas Eagen and Alison Hernandez – Fellows from her cohort (2019-2020) – to discuss the Biden healthcare policy agenda and current happenings at Capitol Hill. Following their fellowship year, all three Fellows have “paid it forward”: Angela has created a new course at Quinnipiac University called “Healthcare Policy and Politics” (HM 671), as a result of her work on Capitol Hill during her fellowship year; and both Thomas and Alison have remained on Capitol Hill as Legislative Assistants, sharing their wisdom of current healthcare policy matters of importance on the Hill during this webinar. “The Next Chapter” continues!

This past Thursday, January 28, 2021, the official HAPF book club – “The Next Chapter” – held its second meeting to discuss the Affordable Care Act, and national healthcare reform more generally, prompted by President Barack Obama’s newest book, A Promised Land.

We’d like to especially thank Teri Kennedy (2015-2016 Fellow) and Jane Pederson (2018-2019 Fellow) for leading the book club and organizing these meetings, and all of the Fellows who have attended meetings or expressed interest in the club.

We are looking forward to our next book club meeting on April 19, 2021, from 4:00-5:30pm EDT. The book selection is Bearing the Unbearable: Love, Loss, and the Heartbreaking Path of Grief, by Dr. Joanne Cacciatore, who will be joining us for the discussion.
