
Colleen Nerney earned both her undergraduate Bachelors in Psychology and graduate degree, Masters in Social Work (concentration in Macro) at the State University of New York, Albany. Her career path has taken her from long term care and sub-acute rehab in nursing homes, consulting for nursing homes, and State Survey preparation for nursing homes. From there she joined the Department of Veterans Affairs. Her role at the Veterans Affairs is Deputy of Non-Institutional Care/Community Care. She oversees multiple community care programs such as Contracted Nursing Home, Contracted Adult Day Care, Veteran Directed Care, and Caregiver Support Program. Along with overseeing these programs she also is chair of the Veteran Community Partnership, a member of the Vermont Governors Commission on Alzheimer's Diseases and Related Disorders, a project member of WeCare which is a part of the Geriatric Research Education and Clinical Center working to implement a culture of change into the Veterans Administration of acknowledging and working with Caregivers of our Veterans. She also holds a role on the Social Work Professional Council, supporting Social Work Services at White River Junction.
