
Dr. Lin (Helen) Jiang is an Associate Professor with tenure at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Social Work. She earned her Master’s (2008) and Ph.D. (2016) in Social Work from highly ranked programs in Hong Kong and the U.S. With over 17 years of experience, her work focuses on addressing the complex needs of Chinese and Latino older adults, particularly examining social determinants of health and improving health and mental health outcomes among older adults and family caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease. Her research on Latino family caregivers for patients with ADRD has been funded by the NIH RCMAR program, and she has collaborated extensively with interdisciplinary teams through HRSA- and SAMHSA-funded projects to prepare future health professionals. In 2025, Dr. Jiang was named a Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America (GSA) in the Social Research, Policy, and Practice Section (SRPP). She has also served as Chair of the Communication Committee for the Association for Gerontology Education in Social Work and as Co-Chair of the Asian and Asian Pacific Islander Focused Research Cluster of the Society for Social Work and Research, maintaining active involvement in GSA since her doctoral studies.
