Dr. O’Hare’s clinical and research interest is in the care of older adults with kidney disease. She currently serves as co-principal investigator on the United States Renal Data System Special Study Center on Palliative and End-of-Life Care and as the principal investigator on a VA Merit grant on advance care planning for older adults with kidney disease. She served as the chair of the American Society of Nephrology’s Geriatric Nephrology Advisory Group from 2012-2015 and is a Steering Committee Member for the Coalition for the Supportive Care of Kidney Patients. During the Health and Aging Policy fellowship, she learned about and helped to shape policy initiatives intended to promote a patient-centered approach to the care of older adults with advanced kidney disease.
