E. Foy White-Chu, MD, CWSP, AGSF is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University. She is a Geriatrician and the medical director for the Wound Healing Program at the Portland VA Health Care System. She is a Fellow of the American Geriatrics Society and serves on the education committee for the Wound Healing Society. For the past decade she has focused on providing care for veterans living with chronic wounds, such as diabetic foot ulcers, pressure injuries, and venous leg ulcers. She applied for the Health and Aging Policy Fellowship as she notices we spend so much time closing the wound only for the patient to return again with a recurrent wound because of lack of resources. She is curious about the policy failure that lead to those recurrences and how we can improve the conditions of our older adults living with – and hopefully definitively closing – these chronic wounds.
