Samsun Naher, PhD, MA, is an Aging and Disability Policy Research Postdoctoral Fellow with the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine. She earned a Bachelor of Social Science (B.S.S.)  in economics from Islamic University (2013), an M.S.S.  degree in economics from Islamic University (2014) and an MA degree (2019) and a PhD (2023) in economics from University of New Mexico (UNM). She completed a research grant from the Social Security Administration through University of Wisconsin-Madison (2021-2022). In her graduate research, Dr. Naher studied the interconnection between public policies (such as the Affordable Care Act and Supplemental Security Income program) and outcomes among vulnerable populations, especially disability claiming and prescription drug use for mental health. Currently, she engages in research inquiries with the aim of impacting policy decisions at the Federal, state, and local levels, focusing on enhancing our communities, especially for individuals with disabilities and older populations. Moreover, some of her independent research includes environmental issues related to air pollution and housing prices, natural disasters and child health.
