
Shae Allen, MSW, LCSW-C is the Co-Founder, CEO, and Publisher of iDIPLO Media, a modern diplomacy and news company she built during the COVID-19 pandemic. iDIPLO Media will feature ongoing health and aging-specific projects, as well as integrate aging content across sector projects and amplify projects and perspectives of health and aging researchers and policy makers.
Shae is a U.S. Navy Veteran, Gerontologist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in health and aging, and previous Caregiver Support Coordinator at the VA Maryland Healthcare System (VAMHCS). She was also a 5th year Interdisciplinary Gerontology Doctoral Student at the University Of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) School Of Medicine, and is a NASW Certified Social Worker in Healthcare. She completed her MSW at the UMB School of Social Work in 2012 (Clinical/Health), and is a Hartford/NASW Supervisor Leaders in Aging Alumni. She is the recipient of the 2017 National Association of Social Work (NASW)-Maryland Chapter Social Worker of the Year Award, 2017 Senate Citation from Senator Chris Van Hollen for innovative work with Veteran and aging populations, the VA Special Achievement Award for work in aging and health, and multiple VA Special Contribution and Superior Performance Awards.
In addition to clinical work, she drove the development of the VAMHCS Domestic Violence/IPV program and the Social Work Intern training programs. She is a frequent consultant and guest lecturer on military/veteran culture for health providers and older Veteran health, privately serves as a Board Member for the Maryland Legislative Agenda for Women (MLAW), and has participated in policy panels, such as the 2017 Montgomery County Commission for Women's Legislative Briefing (Policy recommendations for Veterans health). She is a member of the Gerontological Society of America (GSA), the American Geriatrics Society (AGS), and the NASW. She is currently completing research on sleep behavior and chronic disease, and holds research interests in sleep behavior, chronic disease management, and older adult care delivery systems.
