Dr. Jasmine Travers Altizer is the Dean's Associate Professor Chair for Research Acceleration at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing and a leading nurse-scientist advancing research and policy to transform long-term care and reimagine aging in America. Her work focuses on nursing homes, long-term services and supports (LTSS), and workforce issues. She served on the 2022 National Academies’ Committee on Nursing Home Quality, helping shape bold recommendations to improve the care delivery of older adults living in nursing homes and those who care for them and has published over 70 manuscripts in high-impact journals. Her Congressional testimonies on COVID-19’s impact and workforce challenges in long-term care have informed both federal and state policy. Dr. Altizer's research continues to drive improvements in aging policy, workforce conditions, and the safety and quality of care for older adults.
Dr. Altizer currently leads multiple funded projects, including an NIH R01 grant investigating policy, staffing, and resident outcomes in nursing homes. She previously completed postdoctoral fellowships at Yale University and the University of Pennsylvania, her PhD at Columbia University, her Masters in Adult Health at Stony Brook University and her Bachelor’s in Nursing at Adelphi University.
