Senior Health Policy Advisor, Office of U.S. Senator Tim Kaine

2016 Fellow

Katie Wright is a Senior Health Policy Advisor in the Office of U.S. Senator Tim Kaine. She is a graduate of the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Prior to earning her Master in Public Policy in May 2016, Katie worked on economic security policy issues at the Corporation for Enterprise Development, the Center for American Progress, and the White House Council of Economic Advisers, where her work focused on preserving and expanding federal safety net programs and supports for caregivers, including workplace flexibility and paid family and medical leave. After experiencing a family health crisis of her own in which she served as her mother’s primary caregiver, she deepened her interest and expertise in health and labor policy and the ways such policies intersect. She is particularly interested in policies that help family caregivers as they navigate the health system while juggling other care and career responsibilities and politics’ role in shaping policy options. While in graduate school, she was selected as a fellow of From Harvard Square to the Oval Office, a highly selective political training program for women across Harvard graduate programs. Katie graduated magna cum laude from Northwestern University with a B.S. in Social Policy.
